Due to the fact Derrick Williams is quickly showing that he is ready for more of a role with the team, the T-Wolves have made Mike Beasley available for pennies on the dollar. The fact that Beasley has long been considered an issue with an attitude issue and work ethic issue is not helping his value. However, due to his potential upside there are a few teams rumored to be looking his way. One of those teams rumored to be interested is the Boston Celtics.
Granted the source of this alleged rumor is one Peter Vecsey. Peter loves running with anything someone tells him and people like me like to write about NBA rumors so here we are. However, Peter is probably the worst source in the history of the NBA, but in this case I would not be surprised if the Celtics did at least call to find out if there is a shot a deal. The Boston Celtics need scoring. They need a guy that can make his own offense and get Boston easy baskets in transition. The former number two overall pick has the potential to be an offensive machine. Beasley would instantly become a new toy for Rajon Rondo to play with. The man has great moves to the basket, a post game, and a solid jump shot.
The other mental issues that Beasley has might be cured in Boston. The group of Rondo and the “Big Three” along with Doc Rivers might be just the remedy for those issues. Beasley never really had a winning group around him to show him the way. Miami was a joke at the time of his time spent in South Beach and the Wolves hardly had veteran leadership. Doc Rivers is one of the best coaches in the league. If anyone can get through to Beasley and get him to buy into the Celtics philosophy, it is Rivers. Kevin Garnett is also a guy that could easily motivate the young man. Let us be honest. If KG cannot motivate this guy, no one can. Beasley can not be as big a headache as GLen Davis and look how productive he was with these guys in his ear.
The Celtics do not have many chips to deal, but if they can land him for pennies on the dollar like the rumors suggest then Ainge might bite. If the Wolves would take the injury prone Jermaine O’Neal and the Clippers lottery pick for the talented forward, Boston would have to jump. Jermaine O’Neal is just too injury prone to rely on and KG can play the center spot with Wilcox. Getting any production from Beasley might be more helpful than JO sitting on the sidelines. The only question is can Ainge get it done for the right price? Remember Go Green Or Go Home!!!!!!
