ESPNBoston’s Chris Forseberg is reporting that the Celtics have signed big man Jason Collins. In the wake of losing Greg Stiemsma to the Timberwolves, Boston has replaced him with the 33 year old 11 year veteran. The 7-footer has never been much of an offensive player, but he adds size and depth to the Boston front court. This past spring in the C’s first round playoff match up with Atlanta, Collins started and played some key minutes (including very solid defense on KG) for the Hawks while they were without centers Zaza Pachulia and Al Horford. The Celtics will pay Collins the veteran minimum, in this case just over $850,000.
