Jeff Green will wear green, bank green, and hopefully make opponents green with envy. He knows he needs to be more assertive that the last go ’round, and there’s no doubt that he will. Green just couldn’t get comfortable after the trade, and his lack of confidence showed on the court. But anyone who has seen him play, including me, knows that Green has a special set of tools that will serve the Celtics well.
He’s versatile to the n-th degree, which will give Doc Rivers a ton of options once the season starts. Green can start. He can come off the bench. He can play big or small, and he can play both better than most in this league. So, signing Green for big bank is smart bucks if you ask me. Four years, $36 million may sound like a lot of loot, but Green is young. And he’s an f-ing Swiss Army Knife of an NBA baller. Oh, and did I mention that he checks his ego at the door?
Back the truck up and dump the money out – give me a team full of Jeff Greens. He’s exactly what Rivers and his aging superstars need at this point in their careers, but beyond that, he’s also the kind of player Celtics fans will come to know and love these next four years. Me? I’m already on the bandwagon. What about you?
