Let’s get this straight - right outta the box, baby:  Celtic Nation loves its fans.  Point blank.  Blam.  There, we said it.  We love you.  You dig our site, think it’s the bomb, and we love you for it.  Mad hugs all around.  We share a passion for our favorite team.  We laugh together, we cry together, we celebrate the highs and we share the pain of the lowest lows.

And guess what?  Our Boston Celtics love us, too.  There’s no half-steppin’ when it comes to the relationship between the fans and the greatest professional franchise in all of sport.  And it has been that way from the very beginning, way back in the prehistoric days of professional basketball.  And today?  The bond is as strong as ever, a marriage made in heaven, one that can survive the dark days of the 1990s, the deaths of Len Bias and Reggie Lewis, the expensive mistake that was Rick Pitino, and through it all come back stronger than ever.

Yes, this love affair is something is all about the passion, and its roots can be traced from Cousy to Russell to Cowens to Bird to Pierce and Rondo.  It’s special.  And guess what?  A new season isn’t that far away, and that means it will be time for The Jungle to rumble once again.  The TD Garden will rock with excitement, as sellout after sellout gets to enjoy another championship contender.  The sight of Kevin Garnett, his head up against the basket support, dripping sweat and intensity in equal portions.  The disconnected cool of Rondo during pregame warmups, his headphones on, the blank look on his face masking the competitive pride boiling just beneath the surface.  The buzz generated by the new players – Jason Terry, Courtney Lee and Jared Sullinger, especially.  The sound of Doc coaching his charges from opening tip to final buzzer.

Yes, it’s time for a brand new day – a renewed and unwavering love of all things Boston Celtics.

And guess what?  The Celtics players are just as excited as we are.  Not just to be playing ball again.  That’s a given, but what really gets them going is the thought of showing off for us, playing the game in a way that brings us out of our seats and pulls the air from our lungs.

So rejoice, Celtics fans.  Our players love us.  They can’t wait to ball for real, in front of their freak show fans, the ones who bring the noise and the passion and the love.
