Want a reason to get pumped up for the new season? Just fixate on one Mr. Jared Sullinger if you will, because the talented rookie is going to bring a much-needed youthful enthusiasm to the Celtics locker room. Whether his impact on the court is as significant as those in his camp profess, well, only time will tell that particular story. One thing is for sure, though – Sullinger comes to Boston excited to wanted, and he’s hungry to prove his skeptics wrong.
So you can certainly expect to see a little extra bounce in Sullinger’s step this fall. He knows he’s in a great place, with a great opportunity to contribute right away. He knows he has a chance to make a name for himself, to carve out his identity as a key big in Doc River’s rotation.
And you know he’s thrilled about the prospect of learning at the feet of the master – Kevin Garnett. If Sullinger is smart – and there’s every indication that he is – then he’s going to lap up every single word of advice that KG throws his way.
And if you’re a Celtics fan, you’ve got to be excited about that.
And one would hope that Sullinger will rub off on his veteran teammates as well, because they need to be reminded that playing in the NBA should be a joy, not a job. These guys make millions, and if they’re smart with their money they should live comfortably for the rest of their lives. So it’s really about the joy of playing basketball, and the passion for competing to the be the best, that should drive this team toward its collective goal of an NBA Championship.
And having a talented, fun-loving rookie like Sullinger in the fold should help maintain the team’s balance, which should be equal parts loose and focused.
Welcome aboard, rook – can’t wait to see you in action.

Hear, hear!!! Hear, hear, here, hare, hair, no hold it, got carried away there.
I loved seeing Jared play in summer league. The kid has all the fundamentals down and just needs some polish – to be applied by KG, I hope. He has a rebounding knack and that’s going to earn him playing time this season, hopefully.
