Feel free to call me out on these predictions next April. If you want bragging rights then you need to offer your own revisions. If any of these made you spew your morning cereal milk (or evening beverage) through your nose, tell me which ones, and why?
Dateline: September 18, 2012––12 days until the start of training camp!
Garnett and Pierce play (by design) fewer than 72 games each.
Garnett and Pierce playat least three fewer minutes per game during regular season. That drops Garnett to below 28 and Pierce below 31 mpg.
Rondo shoots a better percentage everywhere (overall, 3-pt, ft) than last year (.448, .238, .60).
Sullinger plays more than 10 min per game.
The team scores more (91.8) and shoots better (46%)–my guess is 3 ppg and 1% more.
Dooling plays fewer than 10 min per game.
The Celtics have a better point differential than last season (+2.5).
The Celtics monthly winning percentage will improve for each month all season.
Fourteen players on the roster will log more than 150 minutes.
Gosh I hope Dooling plays more than ten a game, not because I love him but because Rondo needs rest. I’m not buying into this whole Jason Terry can run point theory. He is a scorer.
Well I agree that Rondo needs to be under 40 min, and Terry is not really a point guard. My problem is that I don’t think Dooling is either. My greatest disappointment last year, well aside from the whole felled by injury thing, was that Keyon was so poor as a facilitator. If we are going to have a combo guard relieving Rajon, then I’d prefer one who is both a 3-point threat and effective at the pick and roll. Dooling is a great character guy but doesn’t bring much else beyond a streaky long-range shot to the table.
