The big news this morning from Celtic Nation is that Darko Milicic is arriving in Boston today, and may be signing for the Bi-Annual Exception (BAE). I got wind of this through www.novosti.rs, my apologies for this being in Serbian, hopefully you are viewing the website in Google Chrome so you can have it translated automatically.
Darko would be a welcome addition to our center rotation, and would provide six hard fouls per game on opposing centers like Andrew Bynum and Dwight Howard. It would be interesting if we meet up with the Heat again in the post-season and dispose of them, while giving Darko solid rotation minutes. It may serve as some bittersweet justice for the 2003 draftee, often over-looked and mocked when compared to other members of that heralded draft class.
Danny Ainge has done a wonderful job this off-season making sure we have a deep and versatile line-up to counter the Miami Heat, while still having some traditional centers on the roster for stymieing centers like Howard, Bynum, and Hibbert. I’ll update this post if I hear anything else today.
1:34pm EST – Reports coming in have the Celtics signing Darko for the minimum. That means we would keep the Bi-Annual Exception. I wonder what waived and bought-out players we will be able to pick between?
