T-minus 4 days and counting until our Boston Celtics clash with the hated Heat. No one quite knows for sure what to expect, but one thing is certain – rookie Jared Sullinger will see the court against the reigning NBA champs.
Sullinger may be smallish. He may not be the most athletic big in the league. But that doesn’t mean a whole lot once the ball is tipped.
Sullinger, you see, is a natural.
He just knows how to play the game.
The Ohio State product has an innate basketball sense that simply can’t be taught, and it’s the kind of talent that often trumps a more athletic, yet less cerebral opponent. Just think about Larry Bird, and what Bird brought to the table. He wasn’t fast, couldn’t jump, couldn’t defend…and yet he ended up being one of the greatest players in the history of this league. Bird, like Sullinger, just had a quality about him, a knack for playing the game. It helped that he was driven in a way that few players in this league have ever been driven. Who knows if Sullinger has that kind of dedication and work ethic, and who knows how much his game will blossom in the seasons to come.
But the fact of the matter is that Sullinger has already shown he wants to succeed in this league. And with the natural smarts and skills that he currently possesses, you can bet good money that Sullinger will see plenty of action on Tuesday night.
Can’t wait
