Lezzzzz get ready to rumble – Tuesday night is all about Celtics / Heat, the Ray Allen Defection, the animosity between two clubs that genuinely don’t like each other, and the beginning of a new journey for a Boston Celtics team in transition.
Don’t know about you, but I’m all in when it comes to Game 1 of the 2012-13 NBA regular season. The joint down in South Beach is going to be popping, and I can guarantee you that there will be some jawing at some point in this one. I can close my eyes and almost see Kevin Garnett and Allen going at each other, chest-to-chest, smack flying back and forth.
No, the NBA’s new flopping rule won’t come into play in this one. If bodies go down, they’re going down for real.
Okay, okay, I’m getting carried away. Who knows what’s really going to happen tomorrow night. Without question the game will be intense, and for a myriad of reasons. Yes, the Allen Angle will play into it. But I think that’s actually going to be overblown. There will be an initial surge of emotion on all sides – the Heat, the Heat fans, the Celtics – but after the initial emotional surge it’s going to boil down to execution. Who makes plays. Who gets stops. Who does the dirty work. Which coach whips out the better X’s and O’s.
Whatever happens, it should be a good show. A thriller if we’re lucky. A Celtics win
