Nothing like a home game against the Milwaukee Bucks to make everything right in your world. Especially after a little rest, some practice time to tweak a few things, and a good, healthy dose of post-Heat chatter through the latter part of the week.
The concern, of course, is that our Celtics are still living in the past and waiting impatiently for the future, circling that home date against Miami so that they can tend to some unfinished business.
Keeping the Celtics focused on the here and now is Doc Rivers’ job, and the fact that the Celtics still seemed fixated on Miami has to be an area of concern. Rivers knows what can happen in this league if a team stops paying attention to detail. Especially when a team has so many new parts.
The good news is that the players on this roster are professionals in the truest sense. Jason Terry doesn’t need to be reminded that he laid an egg in Miami. Jeff Green doesn’t need reminded that he was a non-factor. Kevin Garnett doesn’t need blown assignments thrown in his face.
These guys take that sort of shit personally. Especially KG.
So tonight will be all about taking that next step in becoming a team, in forming an identity.
