Two games, two losses. The first loss hurt, but it was on the road against the defending world champs. Game 2 was an absolute embarrassment, a spanking at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks at the TD Garden in Boston. There’s no question that the loss to the Bucks stung, and didn’t sit well with any of the Celtics – especially Kevin Garnett. Garnett called a players only meeting after the game and explained to the new guys what it means to be a C. What it means to wear a Boston Celtics uniform. What it means to represent one of the greatest franchises in all of sport.
You can’t blame Garnett for admonishing himself and his teammates. Our Celtics are better than this. KG didn’t come back to land in the lottery, and while there’s little doubt that this team will end up contending for a spot in the NBA Finals, what we have right now is a disjointed, dysfunctional mess on both ends of the court.
Thus, the need for KG to call the meeting.
Tonight we get the Washington Wizards, and there’s already talk of more intensity and focus on both sides of the ball.
That’s a good thing.
Hopefully our Celtics will respond to KG’s leadership, and the Wizards wil bear the brunt of the storm.
Can’t wait to see how Garnett and his pack of hyenas play.
