Joe Johnson was the 10th overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft by our very own Boston Celtics. Johnson started 33 of Boston’s first 38 games as a rookie, but his playing time dwindled as the C’s made a push for the playoffs for the first time since 1995. Midway through that rookie season, Johnson was traded to the Phoenix Suns along with guards Randy Brown, Milt Palacio and a first-round pick for veteran forward Rodney Rogers and guard Tony Delk.
Don’t get me started, but Joe Johnson should have been ours. Just like Chauncey Billups should have been ours. Pretty good players, don’t you think?
Instead we had to watch Johnson break both of Paul Pierce’s ankles last night and turn him into a proverbial floor scrubber. Not a pretty site, watching Johnson in his prime abusing Pierce on the decline.
