Chris Wilcox is out with the bum thumb. Darko did a duck-o. Our Celtics are once again paper-thin in the big man department. Add it all up, ladies and gents, and you have a recipe for disaster – or perhaps not…maybe, what you have is an opportunity for our own Brandon Bass to step up and play big minutes as a smallish big man extraordinaire. Sound silly? Maybe, but necessity is the mother of invention, and Bass will likely be needed more than ever with a dearth of true bigs on the roster and little hope for an infusion of size anytime soon.
And who said Biggie Smalls was dead?
Come on, people, Biggie is alive and well in Beantown, he just goes by the name of Lois Lane…err, wait, that’s not right…
Seriously, the Celtics will be counting on Bass to play more minutes with Wilcox on the sidelines, although that may have been the case even if Wilcox hadn’t gotten hurt. Turns out CW wasn’t manning up on the defensive end and landed right in Doc Rivers’ doghouse.
So, we’ll get more Bass and more Jared Sullinger, and that’s not exactly a bad thing. Would be even better if the Celtics had size on the roster, a seven-footer with stupid athletcism….hint, hint, DeMarcus Cousins…
