An MRI has revealed that Rajon Rondo has a torn ACL, and is lost for the season. Rondo was injured in Friday’s contest against Atlanta, and aggravated the injury during the morning shoot-around in preparation for this afternoon’s game against the Miami Heat.
The loss of Rondo is potentially catastrophic for the Celtics, who have struggled to find an identity for much of the season.
The questions going forward: Will Danny Ainge make a trade to acquire another point guard? Does this change the thinking in terms of the Celtics efforts to either stay the course or change directions and try to land another big?
One would have to think that Ainge will accelerate his timetable for making a move, and that he will likely look at available point guards not committed to NBA rosters as well.
