The news is out and it has had itself some hours to move around all the areas of our brain as we try to answer every question we have about The Boston Celtics moving forward without the head of the snake – Rajon Rondo. Losing Rondo means the Celtics must now make up for-

37. 4 Minutes per game (1st)

13.7 ppg. (3rd)

5.6 rebs (4th)

11.1 Assists (1st- over 60% of Celtics total assists)

Not to mention a couple steals, intangibles, hustle plays and all the other dynamics having Number 9 on the floor creates. Rondo was on a tear (no pun intended) in his last few games offensively including a 30 point night against the Bulls in a tough loss. It seemed evident that he was going to raise his scoring average.

Lets use the other side of our brain.

Celtics record without Rajon Rondo over the last 4 seasons-21-13   ( .618 winning percentage) They have a .604 winning percentage with him over the last 4 seasons.

More positives…. The Celtics have the perfect group of guys to step up in a scenario like this. Sure they dont have a true point guard or any one guy that will rack up a ton of assists but they do have the depth, and the scoring.

Courtney Lee-   Will most likely take the job of starting point guard. He has shown us more consistency as of late and he will probably operate as a scoring point guard. Expect the Celtics to attack the rim more with their guards and use less clock to run more possesions.

Leandro Barbosa- The Blur finally gets a real chance. He averages over 16 ppg over his career when given the minutes, this is more instant offense that will alow the C’s to have a scoring punch that brings the ball up.

Expect these 2 guys to Average 22-25 ppg. under Doc’s new formula.

Defensively- Bradley and Lee could combine to be one of the leagues most suffocating defensive duos in the entire league. There is something here that could be a true treat.

It’s not going to be easy, in fact, it’s going to be very hard. This is an emotional team. The kind that will rally around a blow like this and turn it into something gritty and real.
