A couple questions. After a week, Do Nate and TA 'fit' as a 2nd team back court. I think there is potential for good since TA doesn't have to be a PG or combo guard, they can both offer tight 1-1 defense, Nate has range while TA needs to be on the move. Any thoughts after a couple games. Detroit had bynum and gordon who have both had good games against us. Then they went 8-14 and 24 pts against the kitties.
The other question is about Finley. The hope is that he can still play some good D and hit the open shot from SF position. If he is signed, TA is sure to lose most of his minutes. Do we lose anything going from nate-ta-md to nate-md-finley. And if Finley stinks will Doc sit him?

Problem is that TA is good at some things and not at others. He is quick, can play some "D" but can't hit from the outside. He hustles, but is inconsistent. He would fit much better if we were an up and down team. He would function much better in that kind of game. IMHO
Putting Nate with a shooter, who has some size, 6' 7", makes a lot of sense. Tony and Nate are a very small backcourt. If Finley has anything left, you have another "3" pt shooter on the floor, and hopefully can get Rasheed to play down low.

I agree, which is why I was really scratching my head when Nate was signed and there was a lot of discussion (and excitement, it seemed) about Nate and Rondo playing together. And, it turned out, they actually have done that. I guess it depends on match-ups, and I guess the thinking is that Nate is such a good shooter that he would be better as SG (like House would have been). But even so, that's an awfully short backcourt. Any way we can trade for Earl Boykins and get him into the mix somehow? ;)

According to Real GM Finley is going to sign with the Celtics. Size problem in the backcourt solved.
If we get any older. we will be older than DIRT!!!

Have to wonder what he may have left. Seems that if there was much there, the Spurs would have kept him as a veteran team much like the Celtics, they too have a short window left. He doesn't cost us much, and won't be a problem. Maybe a change of scenery will infuse a little life back into him, and he certainly can't be worn down from overuse this season. Just have to take whatever we can get out him, he isn't the same player as he was a few years ago.

not too much to lose(just a vet minimum salary), but there might be something to gain in this. I love how nba.com highlights an article that pretty much says..... why on earth did the celtics sign finley? they should just go back to fantasizing on Lebron's manlihood.

In Doc's shoes, I'd give Robinson-Finley-Daniels all the time in the world to gel. All 20 games. Just because Tony has less to think about doesn't mean that pea brain isn't going to still overheat. Bench that liability and give Finley until the playoffs to fit in.

I have to completely agree with you.. It feels like Doc's tries to rush the players to become better or something.. Our team consist of very old players.. Hopefully we pick up someone young and not someone washed up.
