He had a nice game last night.
16 pts on 8 shots with 7 rebs in 21 mins (led the team in scoring). Most of it was garbage time in a big win.
He's been playing for a few weeks now, but nothing of note before last night. CLE paid for his rehab this year and now they get to keep him as a cheap player next year.

I think we all knew the C's would regret not keeping him in the end but we also were not willing to go out on a limb and say dumb move to let him go.
He would be nice for the C's going into the playoffs. He played great in his role in '08.

I was on that limb, some said it would take 2 years to come back, but even if its in Cleveland, Im glad the Powe show continues.
Yeah, I like Leon too, and would have rather kept him than Glen Davis, except for one BIG factor - Leon was hurt and has a history of injuries. So in the end I think it was better to keep Glen.

I would have rather kept Leon and let Sheldon fill in until Leon was ready. However hindsight is 20/20.

Gee; if Powe ever went 16 Pts -- 6 Rebounds over 30 minutes a game in the play-offs, he surely would be in the Hall of Fame. Right OB?

I would have been happier if Boston had bought a draft pick to add DaJuan Blair. Given that Powe had two reconstructive surgeries last spring there was no way that Boston was going to gamble on him given that they were also gambling on Garnett rehabbing from a knee injury. They wanted guys that they knew could play when necessary and Powe wasn't it.

Blair basically had the same ?'s as Leon Powe, two reconstructive surgeries, but a shorter timetable.
Also, it should be noted that the C's allowed Powe to continue to play in the game for 3 minutes despite the ACL strain, which probably increased the severity of the issue. I would be fine with that if that were the only isolated incident where the C's overplayed an injured player, but KG & Paul are clear indications that the Medical Staff either has NO say or just no concern for the long-term well being of the players. I love Eddie Lacerte, but too often we're seeing hurt players pushed beyond their capabilities to fill a short term need.

Hey now, let's have a little memory here. I'd have to say that the C's were out of the running for powe when we didn't give the qualifying offer, which was about twice the min (and we are in the luxury tax). Ainge was going to wait, but told Powe he'd probably get an offer of 2 years, the 2nd a team option at the minimum--and that's what he got. We could have paid the QO, (more than shelden makes) for powe to play march and april and the playoffs. He's a great guy, but shelden's fall minutes were very valuable and with baby out, those we be going to scal or overplaying the old big guys.
And the other side is that he is very limited in our system because doc likes everybody to be able to make a jumpshot if needed. Doc plays the best 9-10 jumpshooters and powe lost minutes to baby and moobs because of that.
The game mentioned above was mostly garbage time and shaq and Z were out. He has played 11 games 12mpg 5pts and 4rebs. I like leon, but he isn't back yet and he doesn't fit with doc.

The only for Powe signing reasoning I have is that Ainge kept an open roster spot almost all year long. Maybe the fantasy is Powe would had been included in some trade before the deadline, the receiving team released him, and the Celts re-sign him after 30 days. But now the roster is full, so there's no space for Powe now.
Based on the lack of toughness the team showed most of the season, a healthy Powe would had been a great tone-setter off the bench when the team was down.

Yes, but they were in his past. Leon had two more reconstructive surgeries last spring. He blew out his ACL and when they operated on that they also performed a microfracture surgery. Garnett was in unknown territory with the popliteus problem, and Powe would require a roster spot while rehabbing, without any guarantees that he'd be able to play this year. Shelden was safe. But Blair would have been better.
Also, it should be noted that the C's allowed Powe to continue to play in the game for 3 minutes despite the ACL strain, which probably increased the severity of the issue. In retrospect they should have had Garnett's knee scoped last year during training camp when they saw the problem.

I love Powe's heart. He is one tough guy. If he couldn't play, Celts would be brilliant. He can play they are dopes.
Time will tell how well he is healed. I wish him well.

I too liked Powe's heart and hustle, though he did seem to lose his way last season before the injury where he was trying to be more like Pierce than Powe. But it still seems that we could have signed him for something small like the Cavs did, they gave him 855K this season, and 915K next season, a grand total of 1.7 million over two seasons -- hardly a financial risk of notable proportions. Business I suppose.

I'm glad Leon is making his way back and I like him a lot and miss him.... but before C's fans get too teary-eyed about him not here anymore, don't forget - Danny offered him the same contract after he got Cleveland's offer and Leon turned it down.

We always lose the guy who steps up, posey first, now powe - i dont know who's gonna do it this year but hopefully Rasheed gets his act together

Better to be legitimately backing up Shaq, Varejao, and Big Z than be incomprehensibly stuck behind Big Baby and Veal in Doc's special ed. rotation.

10 minutes -- 2 Rebounds -- 2 - 4 Foul Shots -- 4 Personal Fouls = 2 Pts. -- 2 Rebounds in 10 minutes.
That's why Leon didn't get the time with the Celts. He was up & down. YOu never knew what you would get. Always the drive and hustle -- Not always the results.
He has made 1 Field Goal in the last 5 games. Scored 9 Pts. in those games. A 16 Pt. game, and then nothing.
