We got our first glimpse of Mickael Pietrus in a Celtics uniform against the Dallas Mavericks. He played 18 minuts, had five points and a couple of steals. He found himself trying to incorporate the Celtics' schemes on the fly and did a good job for the most part. There were no indications that the knee was going to be an issue. We'll have to wait and see to render the final verdict, but right now it looks like Pietrus can help the cause.
For starters, he's 29. We'll take a sold player who is sub-30 right now, even though he'll be 30 on February 7th...which, BTW, is my birthday as well (so you know Pietrus is my boy)! He's also going to be a solid defender and offensive threat off the bench once he gets up to speed. I can see him becoming more of a factor with each passing game, no question about it, because Doc will figure out how to best use him within the context of the team framework.
If I had to grade out his performance, I'd give him a C+. He helped the team more than hurt it, but there's still so much more he can do in a month or so.
