View Full Version : Why no Nate Robinson?

I am wondering why they never play Nate Robinson. It feels like we are missing a player. NR was supposed to come in and be "Eddie House Plus" but since they never play him, we are missing that instant scoring punch off the bench.

I realize that NR didn't play well when he first arrived, but surely he could give us some of what House used to give us (at least in the championship year; he sure was mediocre before they traded him). I almost feel that it is a BAD thing that Tony Allen played so much better than NR - so much so that Rivers essentially benched NR permanently and now just sticks with TA. The problem with that is the bench has no offense, particauly from outside.

The CURSE of SHEED wouldn't be quite so annoying if we were at least getting some production out of NR or Daniels. As it is, it feels like the bench has no scorers at all.

We hear so much about how the Celtics are in trouble when Rondo is off the floor because nobody else can handle the ball, but I thought that was the purpose of getting Nate, a true PG, as opposed to Eddie or TA who are 2-guards who were being forced to play the point. If they desperately need a facilitator, why not give Nate a chance? I understand TA is better defensively, but when they need offense, they should go to Nate.

Nate's not really a point guard. Yes, he's a better ball handler than Eddie, but he really only creates shots for himself. Unlike Eddie, he's not good at coming off screens and spotting up for threes. He prefers to create his own jumpers off the dribble. Unfortunately, his style of play is almost useless in our offense.

Nate started out hot when he came over, but then tapered off so much that he lost his playing time. Tony Allen has taken those back up minutes that were Nates to lose.

What was supposed to be one of the strongest benches in the league when this all started has unraveled when guys like Sheed, Daniels, and Nate haven't been able to earn much time of late. As much as some hate Big Baby, he's still playing better thanthe three aforementioned players.

Yes, exactly. Cleveland was supposed to be a bunch of mediocre players plus LeBron, while the Celtics were supposed to have a great bench. And the exact opposite seems to be true. (Yes, I'm ignoring the fact that Rasheed had a good game in Cleveland game 2; we all expect that not to continue, right?).

I agree that Nate isn't the kind of point guard we need and that he doesn't seem to fit into the offense, but they need to get Rondo some rest without having the offense go into the toilet. It's very discouraging to watch this bench. :(

He's a locker room maniac, a lost child. I hope he stays in Boston.
