GAME 5
Celtics Lead 3-1
Wednesday, May 26, 2010
8:30 PM Eastern
Amway Arena

__________________________________________________ _

I had a dream last night that the game was close the whole way through, but in the 4th quarter we got a 6 point lead and pierce got a hard foul by rashard lewis who ended up getting a technical on a play to the basket, which allowed pierce to score the bucket and make a free throw extending the lead to 9 with a minute and change left...

Lets take this team out guys.. THIS IS YOUR YEAR!!!! LETS MAKE IT HAPPEN!

GO CELTICS!!!

Talking about fouls, is it me or is Dwight Howard getting a lot of benefit of the doubt with not getting T'd up? The one on Perkins was close to being a flagrant 1, and he wasn't assessed nothing when he elbowed KG in the face.

Whatever the case, I do feel good about tonight. Think of the loss as a wake-up call. Boston will play better and win a close one on the road.

I just hope the long wait for LA-Phx to finish up doesn't effect us when the Finals start.

Hey Mait, nice job with the thread. Just so you know, I edited it to have the game at Amway Arena instead of at the Garden.

I said Celtics in 5 before the series, so I'm sticking with that. Wouldn't it be nice if they called the obvious moving screens on Orlando instead of just the little ones on Perk?

not liking our start so far ... we are playing disorganized ball... rondo with little rythm.... Orlando Snipers shooting unchecked.

seems it definitely wasnt this game I was dreaming of... this game has gotten out of control.

Eddie Rush should get tossed for the second half for that travesty. One of the biggest jokes I have ever witnessed in playoff basketball. This is why nobody trusts the NBA officiating.

agreed.. Eddie Rush has a superman shirt underneath and thinks he ned to be superman #2.... what a joke, tonights game has been unbelievable... I dont think I have seen this many elbows fly and connect on the Celtic players.. and they werent even called for it...

Unless they rescind that T, Perk is suspended for the next game. Both Ts were complete joke. Congrats NBA, you've created a series through strategic use of your secret weapon, shady officiating.

The fix appears to be in on this one. See you guys back in Boston.

The refs are on a T spree right now, bunch of jerks

Dwight got blocked by Nate Robinson, he should probably just die of embarrassment. And of course Dwight elbows another Celtic in the face. After every time he goes up with both hands he slams his arms down and usually they end up cracking someone on the head.

Foul problems, injuries, poor shooting, red hot shooting for the opposition, poor officiating, what a night this has been

Will we even have enough bodies available to even be competitive Friday night?

That was one of the worst officiated playoff games I ever saw. Early in the game my friend kept on saying the NBA wants the series to go six games. After watching the game, I couldn't agree more. Early on I noticed that the calls were favoring Orlando. To the refs' credit, they remained consistent throughout the game. The whole squad needs to be replaced for the rest of the playoffs because the job they did was inexcusable. They acted like they carried out personal vendettas, like the Rondo T. And if the league does the right thing, that one should be thrown out, as well as the two against Perkins. While they're at it, Howard should be given a warning for throwing elbows like Mutombo and trying to crucify Pierce on that foul where he nearly pulled his arm from out of the shoulder socket.

That being said, Boston's defense, while emasculated by the refs, was bad. They didn't close out on the threes and for the second straight game, Rondo was torched by Nelson. He has to put a stop to that or make Jameer work on the other end. To that effect, I like how they tried to post Rondo against Nelson. If Jameer gets into early foul trouble, that's a needed advantage.

As much as I liked the Marquis signing before the season, the hit he took that led to his concussion was weak. A pro athlete has to be tougher than that. He only signed a one-year deal, right?

I agree that it didn't look like much of a hit. But isn't a concussion a real medical thing? I mean, you aren't dogging it if you actually have a concussion (as opposed to just not being tough and not wanting to play with an injury), right? I think that nowadays they are very reluctant to play players with concussions without giving them some rest, because it can cause permanent brain damage.

Concerning Dwight Howard - what is it with his elbows!?! It seems like he is clobbering everyone in sight, all the time. He doesn't appear to be doing it deliberately, but if a player is going to flail away like that all the time, they ought to start charging him with flagrant fouls, IMHO.

Good job of calling me out for not choosing my words better, Rah. Concussions are unpredictable and I shouldn't hold it against him if he's unable to play because of one. Maybe my emotions got the best of me at the moment.

But that was the hang up about Daniels when we signed him - injury prone, right? Earlier in the year it was the thumb that cost him some games and he never got back into the rotation since the injury. Too bad, because when he played, he was a great factor playing point, posting up smaller players, and on the defensive end.

But a player can't help when dressed in street clothes. I would be willing to move on from Marquis after the season if he signed for just one year.

Yeah, I agree. Do we really want a player who is so fragile that he sustains such serious injuries by just running into a hard pick? Think about all those hard falls to the floor that Rondo's been taking all season. One of those would have put Daniels into traction for a month!

There is no denying the fact that Howard is a dirty player. You don't see other big men playing like that. His elbows are always out and he always follows through hard downward with both arms any time he goes up in the air. Also he likes to do it when the player doesn't see it coming and is in no position to defend themselves. Here's a nice little compilation of his dirty plays over our last series.
