John Wall has become the most talked-about college player of the season, and the surest Number 1 draft pick since LeBron James. Will he make the transition to NBA superstar? Will he end up as one of the greatest guards to ever play the game?

He's going to be a star, one of the best of all time? Who knows it's probably too early to say. He's got all the tools to do so that's for sure.

I can say that there is a huge drop off after John Wall in this years draft.

The dropoff isn't that huge. This is going to be one of the better drafts of the last five years. Boston could even find themselves a legit NBA starter in the lower end of the first round given the depth this year.

I will change my statement to say after the first 5 picks or so there's a dropoff. IMO Wall, Favors, Evan Turner, Henry are nice. There is depth which is nice but there's still a dropoff after the top picks, a top heavy draft IMO.I'm not convinced guys like Aldrich, Ed Davis are worthy of top 10 picks like they are projected.

Ed Davis is going to be a pretty good NBA player. Greg Monroe could slip into the last third of the draft, he's someone I'd like to see Boston buy a pick to acquire (I'm thinking three million and OJ Mayo's BFF {Billy Walker} to Memphis for their first). Another couple of guys that could/should float are DeMarcus Cousins (who is going to be the steal of the draft if he ends up on a veteran team like Boston) and Lance Stephenson, who's a little raw now, but plays balls up defense and the makings of a very Pierce-type offensive game (he sees the floor well, uses his size, strength & lateral quickness to get by his man, good mid range shooter with a developing three point shot). Let Cousins or Monroe apprentice under Garnett and Stephenson under Pierce and they could have some players to soften the landing into mediocrity.

I agree about Cousins he's top 5 pick talent thats probably going to go around the middle of the draft, definitely a steal. From what little I saw of Stephenson he was nice, faster than he looks, quick first step, a very good passer and saw the floor really well like you said. He takes some bad shots here and there but that's not a big deal. If Cousins falls to us that would be awesome, Stephenson should still be there in the late first round but he could move up.

Also if we take a wing player or PF in the first I think we should look at SG's in the 2nd. Jerome Dyson would be a nice pick in the 2nd round. Great on ball defender, solid passer for a SG, gets to the rack at will, etc.

At 6'5" 215 Stephenson is a 2. He can play the 3 in college, but in the NBA his future's at the 2.

Will Wall go Number 1 overall? I can't imagine anyone in the upcoming draft surpassing him - who will be top 5?

Wall will definitely be #1 overall. 2-5 isn't so certain. I'd imagine it'd be Evan Turner, Favors, W.Johnson, Aminu. Something like that most likely.

my guess is that wall will be an top 8 point guard an allstar just not every year, turner will be a top 15 shooting guard make a few allstar games, cousins develops into an occasional allstar center, favors develops into solid starter

after the top 4 its going to be interesting johnson and monroe will both be solid starters, the next 30 picks in the draft will all be hit or miss there will be a couple guys who slip past 25 that will be starters (that what the Cs need to hunt out

Wall is going to be one of the best in the game. He's simply too big and athletic for most PGs to effectively defend. Once he bulks up a little he'll be able to run the offense from either guard spot. If the team drafting #1 had someone like Toney Douglas to pair him up with they'd have a killer backcourt for years to come. Cousins is huge with a killer low post game, and considering how late he arrived at basketball, more motivated than 'Drew Bynum. He has perennial all-star potential. Turner is going to be better than a top 15 SG, he has a complete game. He's Brandon Roy without the knee concerns (though the back bears watching). Favors is another guy that's simply too physical for a lot of 4s to match up with.
