Sacramento has said Martin could be available. Although they probably want some younger players we don't have, maybe a deal could be made with Ray Allen and someone else. Or just wishful thinking?

That would be an interesting trade! The Celtics lost again tonight, to the Bulls, and something just doesn't seem to be right at the moment...our window of opportunity with the Big Three may be closing more quickly that many expected...

I've been a proponent of martin and kenny thomas since at least this summer. Recently I'm warming towards even k.mart+nocioni+pick for kg. I'm tired of waiting for being healthy. I think we can survive without his 15-8 and <1.1 PPS. We'd still have sheed, noc, davis, and maybe moobs or landlord at PF. Ray can be re-signed on the cheap to be a shooter off the bench for 20-25 mpg.

I agree the window is closing quickly. KG for Nocioni and Martin would work out well for us too. We could start then start Sheed, Ray as scorer off bench. Another thing I like about Martin is his size, I think he could bother most SGs contain guys like Joe Johnson. Probably just wishful thinking but it'd be nice.

Rondo'd,

I like your first idea so much better. Our title hopes this season are pinned to the notion that KG can get back and be healthy for at least a significant amount of the regular season and the playoffs. This is going to be a little frustrating for us, yes, considering the lies we were put through last year, but it's certainly within the realm of something that can be considered reasonably likely.

If we can do a deal like getting Martin for Ray, yeah, absolutely, in a heartbeat.

You know, with Casspi looking legit, that might work out OK for the Kings, as well.

They're going to want value in return for Martin. The reason they're looking to move him is because Evans is looking like a franchise player and both he and Martin play the same position. Trading him for an older player in the last year of his deal who also plays the same position doesn't make too much sense... and besides the numbers don't match up anyway. Martin also has a pretty nice contract since he's owed about 44 mil over the next four years.

Martin is the type of guy that just doesn't fit with Rondo. Unless Boston were involved in a three way deal and getting back a low usage player for Martin there isn't much point to it. He's a lot like Corey Maggette, you give him the ball and he finds a way to get to the rim and draw free throws. He's lost out to Evans in Sacramento because that's Tyreke's game, as well. Except that Evans also has the ability, a la Wade or LBJ, to direct the offense off the wing So Martin's available, but I'm not sure he's really a good fit here.

I think if this deal would to happen it would go out like this:

Sacramento Gets

SG Ray Allen
SF Bill Walker
PF Glen Davis

Boston Gets

SG Kevin Martin
PF Kenny Thomas

Blow up the team! Martin+Nocioni+Brockman for KG+House, Ray+Baby+future first+cash for Butler+Jamison. Now THAT's how you shake things up.

Okay, not really. Interesting concept though, no?
