If true, that's definitely a huge loss. I was hoping he would take over at head coach if the rumors of Doc leaving the team after this season were true. Celts will definitely need to find someone to replace him as Doc is not a good coach defensively. Great move for Chicago though, the only piece left they have to add is LeBron.

Huge loss. Where do we go for a defensive guru? Where do we go if Doc leaves? I heard something about Kevin McHale being interested. Not sure how I feel about that. I guess I don't know much about him as a coach. You gotta love the guy as a player, but can he coach?

Couldn't this wait until after the finals? I know it shouldn't matter but it can have a psychological effect on the team as a whole. I'm not using it as an excuse but If the players know their coach is jumping ship it can...I don't know, I just don't like it being announced in one of the biggest finals in recent years. I mean is Tom's head in the game, does he even care? go celtics, horay. yada yada yada

I'd be happy with McHale as the coach. He's horribly suited to be a GM, but he could make a very good coach. Minnesota played well during both of his coaching stretches with them and if anyone can teach Perkins some post moves it's McHale.
