If Phili is really willing to give up Iguodala to a team that will take on some of their big contracts, we should be on the phone with them 24 hours a day until we get something done. They want out from under Brand, Dalembert & Kapono. I would take Dalembert & Kapono to get Iguodala.

Ray Allen, Brian Scalalbrine, Eddie House & Sheldon Williams

For

Andre Iguodala, Samuel Dalembert & Jason Kapono

This trade makes us bigger, tougher, a better defensive team & a much better rebounding team.

I like Iggy a lot, but I don't think he's the clutch 3-point shooter that we really need on the 2

He's a bad fit for the C's, demands too much possession time.

I disagree, he's a fantastic finisher that would fit well alongside Rondo, and he's capable of playing defense at a very high level. Pierce is still an excellent forward, but he's slowing down and isn't quite the slasher he used to be. On this bright side, though, is that his jumpshot looks better than ever, making a second phase of his career as an elite "3s and D" guy a distinct possibility. Designating Iggy as the team slasher/finisher we may be able to tack an extra year of high level play onto Pierce's career by reducing the wear and tear on his body over the next two or three seasons. Furthermore, he gives us a third good young(ish) player alongside Perk and Rondo to keep the next generation from being a total overhaul.

I'd love the Igster in green, but he's their one fat contract that is worth the money. I can't imagine he would be available, but I would love to be wrong about that. Plus, is mgt going to want to take back that much in salary with rondo's raise kicking in. Iggy would be a great addition.

Supposedly Philly is ready to hit reset on this team and build around their next few draft picks. Rumors are Iggy may wind up in Houston with Dalembert for little more McGrady's expiring. If that's true there's no reason we couldn't offer an equal or better offer in which we also eat Kapono and possibly Willie Green's contracts next year. Rondo, Iguodala, and Perk provide the building blocks for a top-level defensive team once KG and Pierce are gone, and keeping Pierce around in his late thirties as The Ultimate Bruce Bowen is a completely viable option in that case.

EDIT: A three team trade with Sacramento works better, with Boston receiving Iggy and Nocioni, Philly getting Ray and Kenny Thomas' expirings, and Sacramento getting Sam and Kapono.

Yeah, that's a nice deal too. Nocioni would be a pretty good fit for our system.

For the Reccord, Iggy and Noc would put us at 82+ million for 8 players next season and a rapidly aging KG. If you do that you have to think that Rondo-Iggy-Pierce are your mainstays and a cobbled together KG, aging sheed, perk and noc, and min salary guards and wings are enough.

Our team looks like detroit did until they hit the wall.

Bringing in Nocioni and Iggy will be an upgrade over retaining Allen at a lower salary and signing(maybe) a MLE guy. I honestly believe that the team you outlined is better than what we're currently poised to have next year because Iguodala is signficantly better than Ray and Nocioni's useful off the bench. Furthermore, Iguodala just turned 26 (Jan 28th), Perkins is 25, and Rondo will soon be 24. The trade is as much about setting up the next generation of Celtics while we have trade chips as it is getting better immediately. As I said before, Rondo-Iggy-Perk gives you the players to put together an elite defensive team beyond the Pierce-KG years.

Edit: he said retiring, never mind.
