Paul Pierce and the rest of the Boston Celtics were mere bottom feeders, their future tied to the Greg Oden-Kevin Durant Sweepstakes, and Pierce, with his NBA mortality sneaking up and his championship hopes fading, could not see himself finishing his career in the green-and-white. Not if he were to contend for an NBA Championship. All of that changed in the whirlwind summer of 2007, and today Pierce found himself squaring off with James in a winner-take-all Game 7, the winner advancing to play the Detroit Pistons in the Eastern Conference Finals.
