"So, how much longer?"

"Until...?"

"You know - when do you really think I'll get out of this place?"

"If you keep improving, they may move you out of ICU and into a private room by the end of the week.  Maybe."

"Come on, that's not what I meant - I want our of here.  This hospital."

"When you're well enough they'll let you go home.  Until then we wait.  I know it's hard."

"You don't have a clue."

"Do you really think I enjoy this?  This hasn't been easy on me, either."

"I'm sure, but something tells me your problems are nothing compared to what I'm going through right now."

"I'm not going to argue with you, Jason.  It's not good for either of us."

"I'm just trying to make a point."

"Point taken, okay?  Let's just play cards."

"I'd rather be able to walk.  At least then I could get some answers."

She rips the cellophane wrapper off of the cards and begins shuffling them.  "First things first.  The doctors want you upright and working those lungs so that you don't end up with pneumonia.  But they also have to be careful about that leg.  Right now it has to stay elevated.  They want it above your heart to prevent swelling."

"I can deal with the swelling.  Right now I want my life back."

"That settles it, hardhead."  She slides the deck over to me.  "We're playing War.  Deal."
